    Annette M. Alston is an award-winning writer from Newark, New Jersey.\n
    Her book Harriet Tubman for Beginners<\/em> has received national\n
    recognition.  Her three-part series on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the\n
    Newark Rebellion was printed in the New York Amsterdam News <\/em>and\n
    the Newark City News<\/em> where it won a NNPA Merit Award among the highest\n
    honors for journalism in the Black press. Her essay, “Breathing in America”\n
    was published in Impact: Personal Portraits of Activism<\/em> by Michelle\n
    Duster and Trina Sotira.\n
